A show that seemed to be going well until KOOP personality Vixie came in and touched the one knob you do not want to touch and we lost eight minutes of the podcast. When the show returns Mac is talking to Garth from Sunken Valley about his donations to KOOP during membership drive. Plus a lot of social media talk. Weird show.

Membership Drive Wrap-up and Crush Report

Last week, the (Best of Austin) Mascot Wedding show wrapped up its Fall KOOP Membership Drive run with nothing less than its best membership show ever, all thanks to you, the listners! Oh-em-eff-gee you guys crushed it. YOU CRUSHED IT! It was our single best show ever in terms of the amount raised for our beloved community radio station, and the best full pledge run (all three shows) for our show so far. If you want a sign that the show is growing, it’s right there in your support. Thanks so much to the following pledgers: Randy, John G., (Anonymous), Misty, Nelda, and Robert. Special thanks to Charles C. for pledging for a second time. Jeepers! Everyone who didn’t pledge, look at these names and be humbled. They are your radio champions.

STAG! Comedy a Huge Success

Last Sunday, Stag Comedy (featuring Mascot Wedding) and a whole bunch of friends put on a comedy show and it sold out! We sold out the big theater at the Downtown Alamo Ritz plus, the show went great! Wow! No seriously, it was great! Amazing! Thanks to everyone who helped with the videos and everyone who came out. Once Joe Parsons gets married and honeymooned and whatever, our first order of business is planning a repeat performance somewhere else in Austin. Hopefully, those who couldn’t make it out or were turned away at the ticket counter can see us in another venue.

Thanks to founding Stag members Joe, Scott Chester, and Ben Bartley for letting us em-dub kids wreck shop with them.

In the meantime, if anyone took any pictures at the actual show, please leave a comment. We have plenty of pictures of the after party (some we wish we didn’t have) and video of the whole performance but we didn’t take any still photos. So share’em if you got’em.

This Sunday: STAG Comedy!

STAG! Sketch Comedy — STAG Sketch Comedy

I am really excited about this, everyone. REALLY excited. This Sunday at the Downtown Alamo Ritz, STAG Comedy will take the stage for a mix of live and video sketches. STAG! is comprised of Joe Parsons, Ben Bartley, Scott Chester (Master Pancake Theater, Comedy Sportz), and all of us kids in Mascot Wedding. We’ve been working on this show all summer and we think it’s going to be a blast. I’d tell you more about the kind of stuff you’re going to see but I don’t want to spoil anything.
This show is one-time only! So come downtown to the Alamo Drafthouse, this Sunday, September 13th. Show starts at 7:10 PM. Tix here.

New Video! Rampage: The Movie

Mascot Wedding Productions has created a new short for a Filmmaking Frenzy challenge. The trailer for Rampage: The Movie is our entry into the Uwe Boll Totally Awesome Videogames Filmmaking Competition sponsored by G4 and Fantastic Fest. The challenge was to make a 2-minute trailer for a movie based on a video game (that has not already been made). While this project did involve the entire Mascot Wedding team, this was Chopper Dave Youmans’s baby all the way. Viva Chopper!

GTFO: Mascot Wedding Show Picked “Best in Austin” by Austin Chronicle

In news that is sure to send local bars into DEFCON 1, your beloved “Mascot Wedding Show” has been named “Best Saturday Night Date” by The Austin Chronicle in its annual “Best of Austin” issue. (Holy crap, I got chills just writing that.) Obviously this comes as a huge surprise to everyone at MW, as the annual “Best Of” is normally the time of year where the popular kids get on the dance floor and Mascot Wedding stands by the punch bowl and counts down the minutes until our parents come to pick us up. But this duckling just turned into a swan, chumps. This is our dance now!

In all seriousness, a gigantic thanks to everyone who made this possible. Thanks to the people at the Austin Chronicle, who are just as good at softball as they are putting out a damn fine newspaper every week. Thanks to KOOP Radio for kicking ass and being incredibly tolerant of a show about KFC sandwiches and Eric Bana. Thanks to the rest of Mascot Wedding – Youmans, Ximena, Long, and East Coast Duggles – for being the baddest motherfuckers on the planet. Thanks to the growing Mascot Army, the callers, the people representin’ on the Facebooks and the Myspaces, the people helping to get the word out, and the silent majority of listeners who just sit quietly and enjoy the program every Saturday. You all are the cat’s pajamas, and totally make this show worth doing.
