Mascot Wedding Live Dates!

mw_live

Keeping in the “going out with a bang” spirit, MW will be doing some live shows before our podcast wraps. Come see our faces explode with sweat, as we fight our respective stage anxieties.

This Friday, June 24th, 7pm at ColdTowne Theater we will be doing our final show with Movie Riot. Every week Movie Riot improvises a never before seen movie from scratch. Last week’s show was a blast. Details here, tickets here.

July 3rd and 4th, David and Mac will once again be teaming with Master Pancake Theater to make fun of the most awfulsome movie ever, Road House. The Road House show is our absolute favorite. We’ll be doing two shows each night, a 7pm and a 10pm. Tickets here.

Friday July 24th, we’ll be doing a live recording for Episode 299 at ColdTowne Theater. This show will be FREE. It has a late start time of 11pm so go ahead and start napping now.

MW Improv performs with Movie Riot

Mascot Wedding Improv rides again! That’s correct, we are one of the few improv groups to perform on horseback. Since we’re close to shuttering our podcast doors for good, we decided to dust off our so-so improv skills one final time. Thankfully we’re teaming up with some of the funniest people we know. Mascot Wedding Improv (Mac + David + Ximena Estrada) will be performing with Move Riot, two Fridays in a row at ColdTowne Theater.

Movie Riot creates brand new, never-before-seen movies, live on stage. And during their Spin-off Summer series, you pick the movie, they’ll make up the spin-off on the spot. Plus free margaritas, popcorn, and movie candies and opening act Loverboy. $5 in advance, $8 at the door.

We can say with a fair amount of certainty this will be MW’s last improv go-around, so these are your final chances to see… this kind of thing.

Tickets:
Friday, June 19th at 7pm.
Friday, June 26th at 7pm.

MWS 293: Carlos LaRotta

293
Episode 293: Carlos LaRotta from the comedy group Movie Riot is our guest. Mac and David almost get tornadoed away. Cook-out tips! Reasons for blocking people on Facebook. And another world-famous Mascot Wedding vision quest.

MWS 292: Bad Boys

292
Episode 292: From the comedy group Bad Boys, Byron Brown and Sam Malcolm join us in studio for a packed show. How packed? We have a Mascot Wedding Vision Quest, a scene from the movie Vision Quest, some strip club talk, 9/11’s affect on relationships, and more. Plus, stay tuned till the end for a very big announcement.

MWS Episode 231A: Live Podcast from Out of Bounds with Aphasia

from Aphasia
Jeannie Cahill, Brett Lyons, and Jeff Griggs from Aphasia

Episode 231A: Sorry for the delay. At the same time David was recording the last (posted) episode at the KOOP studios, Mac was recording a live Out of Bounds edition MWS podcast at ColdTowne Theater. Here is that bizarro, “earth 2” Episode 231, or – based on common alternate reality naming conventions – Episode 213A. Mac and special guest co-host Lance Gilstrap welcome Jeff Griggs, Jeannie Cahill, and Brett Lyons from the awesome improv group Aphasia. Cruise ship stories, Mothman Prophecies, Mac’s rent-a-cop days, and more.

Original recorded 09/01/12.

Outro: “Ruin” by Cat Power, from the album Sun

Austin Sketch Fest this weekend (5/27 – 5/29); STAG! Comedy secures Thursday night slot!

Austin Sketch Fest

Are you still kicking yourself for missing the last STAG! Comedy show? Are you looking for something fun to start your Memorial Day weekend? Are you a sucker for killing two birds with one stone? Well, have I got some news for you!

STAG! Comedy (featuring Mascot Wedding, as well as members of Master Pancake Theater and Comedy Sportz) will be performing Thursday, May 27th, as a part of Austin Sketch Fest. Curated by Lance Gilstrap (also a Master Pancake alum and member of the very funny Midnight Society), Austin Sketch Fest is a three day showcase of some great comedy featuring local and national sketch groups. Shows will take place at Coldtowne Theater, with additional shows taking place Saturday night at the United States Art Authority. This will be our first time performing at Coldtowne, so we’re really looking forward to the opportunity to put on a fun show at a great local venue.

For more information about Austin Sketch Fest, click here. For tickets to Thursday night’s show featuring STAG! Comedy (with Green Tuna and Turn of the Century Paris), click here.

Seating at Coldtowne Theater is very limited, so get your tickets while you can. And, if you can’t make it out to support STAG!, at least consider checking out the rest of Austin Sketch Fest. It’s a very cool event and Lance has been busting his ass to put it together.
